Short People Problems: The Fun Side
Once your growth plates have fused and there’s little chance of you growing taller and as time goes by, you learn to accept it. The social stigma of being a short person can be very damaging – some people are depressed about their inability to reach the top shelves. To top it off, short people are at the receiving end of a lot of jokes.
People nowadays are easily offended. Although you should stand up for yourself, poking harmless fun and humor allows you to appreciate the little things in life. Even if you’re regularly teased because of your height (or the lack of it), look at the bright side. Take them positively and as a challenge – find a way use your height to your advantage!
Anyway, there quite a few problems short people face nowadays. However, these are funny and amusing, and we’re quite sure that this will definitely bring a smile to your face:
You Need to Cuff All of Your Jeans
Either master the art of cuffing, or get jeans from the kids’ section. For short people, seeing a pair of good jeans in a department store is both a moment of fear and excitement. Unless if they’re the right size, they will either be long or too long, so be careful and make the right choices whenever you’re shopping!
Constantly Worry About Making the Height Limit
We know some people want to be a tad shorter. For example, in some professional basketball leagues around the world, “imports” or non-local basketball players worry about making the 6’9 height limit. They’re actually hoping they’re shorter just to make the team, while some short people are hoping to be tall enough to be allowed in some Disneyland rides. Talk about similar yet contrasting problems.
Foot Stools are a Necessity
Whether if it’s for reaching for a particular item like in shelves, cupboards or on cabinets and other elevated areas, foot stools are a short person’s best friend. Ok, actually it isn’t but regardless, we’ve all met people who end up using them. If you’re short, be sure to have one on your home – it beats having to use chairs!
You Won’t Get Crushed by Boulders
Let’s say your job is comparable to that of Indiana Jones – booby trapped, dangerous and you need to be stealthy. You walk down an abandoned corridor, when suddenly a boulder springs from behind. As you try to run and get away, you trip. Fearing for your life, you roll to the wall and end up like this:
On a serious note, short people tend to have better reflexes and can react faster compared to taller people. This is mainly because people with short statures have shorter nerves, enabling them to process situations faster. This is why Edward Elric (pictured above) from Full Metal Alchemist wasn’t crushed by the boulder, considering he reacted faster. Also note that in basketball point guards seem to move faster than quicker than centers.
Overall, being short isn’t really half bad, although you should always concentrate and desire to be taller. Remember, tall people always get good careers! So, start living a healthy lifestyle now learn more.
