How Tall Are Famous Fictional Characters?
Not only does height play a role in the real world, but also in the world of fiction and fantasy: if a certain character is taller, then he or she possesses gargantuan physical strength. Even you are an avid comic book reader, a fan of animated films or were dragged by your kids to the cinema to watch cartoons, we’re sure you’re not aware about how some of these characters size up.
So, how tall are some of the world’s most well-known fictional characters? Time to find out:
This animation studio arguably one of the world’s best, considering their numerous accolades and amazing movies. This movie studio produced the likes of Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars. We’re sure you know all about the plot lines of these movies, but we’re sure you don’t have any clue regarding their characters’ heights!
Bob Parr, the super strong superhero lead protagonist of the hit film, The Incredibles, was a huge man standing over 6’7 and weighing over 350 pounds. His wife, Elastigirl, stands at 5’6 but could extend up to 30 meters.
James P. Sullivan
Also known as Sulley, this lovable – and scary – fur ball is the lead protagonist of Monsters Inc. and Monsters University. He stands at a whopping, 7’6.
This Princess of DunBroch isn’t just a headstrong redhead, but one of the finest archers to have ever roamed the hills of Scotland. She stands at 5’4 – but don’t let her diminutive size fool you!
DreamWorks is the principal rival of Pixar in terms of creating animation masterpieces. No surprise there, considering the studio was founded by none other than award winning director, Steven Spielberg. As of 2014, its films have brought home a whopping $12.5 billion dollars, and 15 of their films are among the top 50 of the highest-grossing ever. Their most well-known characters include Shrek, the animals and penguins in Madagascar, Po in Kung Fu Panda, and Toothless in How to Train Your Dragon.
Shrek and Friends
Definitely one of the funniest animated comedies of all time, the Shrek series received universal acclaim, particularly the second movie which is the highest grossing film of 2004, DreamWorks’ biggest success and the 2nd highest grossing film of all time, next to Toy Story 3. In the movies, Shrek is presumably between seven to eight feet in height, while Princess Fiona (in her ogre form) is estimated to be no taller than seven feet.
Kung Fu Panda
This movie features Chinese animals, and is known for its well-choreographed fight scenes, top-notch voice acting, superior animation and lovable characters. Po, the main protagonist of the film, stands at 6’2 and is notably taller than the Furious Five.
Toothless and Hiccup
How to Train Your Dragon saw the birth of characters like Hiccup and Toothless; the latter has gained a cult following for its cuteness despite being the “Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death Itself”. Hiccup stands at a tall 6’1 in the second movie, while Toothless was measured to be over 30 feet.
Overall, animated films may be seen as entertainment for children, but these are amazing works of art, hard labor and are a great story telling medium!
